God's Providence (HB Q.27)

What Do You Mean by the Providence of God?

Answer: The almighty and everywhere present power of God; whereby, as it were by His hand, He upholds and governs heaven, earth, and all creatures;

so that herbs and grass, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, meat and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, yes, and all things come, not by chance, but by His fatherly hand.

The almighty and everywhere present power of God.

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'  Acts 17:24-28

"Am I a God who is near," declares the LORD, "And not a God far off? "Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I do not see him?" declares the LORD. "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD.  Jeremiah 23:23,24

Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, and whose deeds are done in a dark place, and they say, "Who sees us?" or "Who knows us?"  Isaiah 29:15

You felt secure in your wickedness and said, 'No one sees me,'
Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you;
For you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one besides me.'  Isaiah 47:10

You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, that what is made would say to its maker, "He did not make me";
Or what is formed say to Him who formed it, "He has no understanding"?

He upholds and governs.
